Le 26 avril dernier, Phobetor le studio à l’origine de l’injustement mésestimé Germany at War – Barbarossa 1941 (cf. notre test) a publié un nouveau jeu de guerre aux saveurs de l’antique Allied General de SSI. Le dénommé Army General est un wargame classique, dans la lignée des illustres Five Stars et basé sur le gameplay fort agréable de Germany at War.

Prenant pour cadre historique les opérations africaines des armées italiennes et allemandes, il offre deux campagnes localisées sur le théâtre aride de la Cyrénaïque ; cependant bordé par la Méditerranée, ce qui offrira l’opportunité de quelques batailles navales rafraîchissantes. Échelles régimentaires / divisionnaires sont au programme ; jouable en tours alternés du côté de l’Axe ou des Alliés et pourvu d’un éditeur de scénarios / campagnes, le jeu s’avère plaisant à pratiquer bien qu’un peu léger visuellement parlant.

Army General is a turnbased strategy game that depicts the desert warfare in Northern Afrika and parts of the Mediterranean sea during World War II. Fight back the Italian invasion of Egypt in 1940 with the Desert Rats or advance to Suez with the Afrikakorps in 1941/42. Adjust your units to the challenges of each map by exchanging officers, equipment and subordinate units. Create your own maps and campaings for yourself or to share it with other players.
