Paradox Interactive vient de faire savoir, dans un communiqué du 17 février, que le dernier jeu de la série Hearts of Iron, le quatrième du nom, vient de franchir la barre du demi-million de copies vendues. C’est un très beau succès pour cet opus réussi. D’autant plus que le jeu n’a pas encore un an d’existence (il est sorti le 6 juin 2016) et qu’il va connaître encore bien des améliorations dans les années à venir. Le studio a tout de même sorti, depuis, de nombreux patchs pour rééquilibrer le jeu et offrir de nouvelles fonctionnalités, ainsi qu’une première extension majeure, à côté de DLC moins fondamentaux, Together for Victory, principalement centrée sur le Commonwealth.
Les développeurs, Paradox Developpement Studio, ne comptent pas s’arrêter en si bon chemin et vont continuer à suivre leur jeu et offrir du contenu supplémentaire. On note ainsi l’arrivée prochaine d’un important patch, le 1.3.3, toujours en travaux (voir ce dev diary). On ne peut qu’espérer toujours plus de nouveautés et de corrections pour ce bon titre, afin qu’il atteigne, avec le temps, une profondeur égale aux autres jeux du studio qui ont plusieurs années d’existence derrière eux. Certes, il y a d’ores et déjà beaucoup à faire, surtout si on rajoute des mods créés par la communauté. Ils sont totalement gratuits et certains très bien faits, notamment l’un d’eux nommé The Great War et qui, comme son nom l’indique, transpose, avec succès, le jeu en 1914-1918.

Hearts of Iron IV Sells Half a Million Copies
Paradox’s WWII Strategy Wargame Conquers the WorldSTOCKHOLM – 17 February 2017 – Paradox Development Studio is thrilled to announce that Hearts of Iron IV, its World War II themed strategy wargame, has sold 500,000 copies worldwide since its release in June 2016. This milestone follows record sales for Stellaris, Europa Universalis IV and Crusader Kings II, once again confirming Paradox as the premier developer of computer strategy games.
Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox Interactive, underlines how the continued success of Paradox games justifies the company philosophy.

Hearts of Iron IV recently saw the release of Together for Victory, the first major expansion to the game. Lead Designer Dan Lind is very pleased with the ongoing development of the game, and the team remains committed to continually improving the HoI experience.
