Matrix confirme la sortie en cette fin de semaine d’une suite de John Tiller’s Campaign Series, nouveau wargame tactique sur le thème cette fois des conflits au Moyen-Orient dans la seconde moitié du vingtième siècle, jusqu’au milieu de années 80. Au menu par exemple la première guerre israélo-arabe, la guerre des Six Jours, la guerre du Kippour, mais aussi la crise de Suez, l’invasion du Liban ou encore la guerre d’Algérie.

De tous les Campaign Series, ce Middle East 1948 – 1985 est le seul dont je ne conserve pas un bon souvenir. Peut-être est-ce dû au fait qu’il ait rejoint ma ludothèque trop longtemps après sa sortie ? C’est très possible. Cependant, tout comme Rising Tide consacré au Pacifique et paru bien après le succès mérité des East et West Front, je pense plutôt que la raison en est une baisse de régime très significative, en terme de qualité ludique, de la part de Talonsoft qui entamait alors son chant du cygne. Tout ceci sans présumer pour autant des qualités de ce remake ! Les thèmes traités ici étant d’une originalité notable.
