Assault On Arnhem is an operational level wargame for between one and four players, based on the famous Operation Market Garden campaign in September 1944.
Each player manages units in either the Allied or Axis forces fighting over the bridges leading to the Dutch town of Arnhem. The aim of the game is to either capture or defend the bridge objectives by a certain time in the game.
Assault On Arnhem is an easy game to start playing, although underneath the simple façade lies a much deeper level of complexity.

J’ai déjà les précédents Tank Battle. Pas sûr d’acheter celui-ci. En gros, avec ces jeux on en a pour son argent. Ils sont simples et pas chers (<5$). Pratique pour des parties très "casual". Si on a déjà utilisé un wargame, on prend en main en quelques minutes. Ils sont simples et sympas. De ce coté là ils font le job. Mais ils ont aussi des inconvénients, et épisodes après épisodes, je commence à les trouver pesant : pas de vraie gestion de ressources ou des renforts, ça se répète un peu et la difficulté n'est pas toujours homogène… Le pire, c'est quand même cette histoire de nombre de tours pour réussir un objectif. Concrètement cela signifie qu'il n'y a pas plusieurs façons de gagner, mais une seule. Et ça se résume souvent par "foncer tout droit très vite"… Et moi je trouve que l'intérêt du wargame, par rapport aux autres jeux informatiques, c'est justement d'offrir une telle combinaison de possibilités d'actions, qu'en théorie il a x façons de jouer et de gagner. Ces jeux cassent cet aspect et c'est bien dommage…
